Eurydice
by: Sarah Ruhl
Director: Morgan Hicks
Lighting Design: Emily Clarkson
Costume Design: MJ Hall
Scenic Charge : Kiah Kayser
Designer Concept:
Stuck in an endless, disorientating cycle of waiting and transition, our production of Sarah Ruhl’s Eurydice has been placed in a long abandoned train station. Expressed in a dark and seemingly dangerous setting that is home to a collection of rusty, dilapidated and worn down objects, the passage of time is emphasized, while providing a hauntingly beautiful environment through which the show is able to move. The characters are faced with feelings of insignificance and lonlieness in the presence of the towering height of the architecture. Additionally, the station itself is surrounded by a black void, as if extracted from the real world and placed in this mythological one. This self-contained unit set helps to accentuate the surprises it holds within.
